Apple: Trillion $ Market Cap
Seraphic Secret has made no secret of our enthusiasm for Apple products--I skip their first generation stuff, it's usually quite beta--and Apple stock.
Every year, like clockwork, we urge our readers to consider purchasing Apple stock because Apple is on an epic roll. Apple products are marvels of technological innovation, yet at the same time they have a unique niche in the always desirable glamour market. And never underestimate the power of glamour. Remember, Obama did not get elected based on his record of accomplishments, which were, follow me here: zero.
Anyhoo.
Every year I tell my readers that Apple stock is a pretty darn good bet. But many kvetch that the stock is too expensive, that the stock can't possibly rise any higher.
This has happened when I told people to buy at $50, $75, $110, and $200.
A few minutes ago Apple was at $323.34 a share.
You see the pattern, right?
And watch what happens when the iPhone becomes available to Verizon customers.
Well, now comes a pretty convincing prediction that Apple will be the first company to reach a trillion dollar market cap:
One can go on and on with the metrics of how Apple blows it away but lets just say that in 2013, iPad and app sales represent about 40 percent of Apple's gross profits. Total gross profits could be about $80 billion (today is $25 billion). Cash flow could be about 75 percent of that (like it is today), or about $60 billion. Slap a 20 times multiple on that and you have a market cap of $1.2 trillion. That's a shareprice of about $1200 by 2013.
