Are those CRUTCHES...or a joke?

I have a great sense of humor.  My mother in law never thought so... but that's another story.  Since I've been bedridden from my ice accident, I realize two things:  People can be kind and they can be crude.

Let's start with the moms of my daughter's friends.  I promised I wouldn't talk about it but can't hold back.  The comedy is just too good! Most people call you and say:  "Have a speedy recovery...need anything?" I get a mom calling me saying: "You mean to tell me you don't even feel 1% better?" Let's add insult to injury...no pun intended, she continues:  "The only thing that can help cure you is putting egg yolk with turmeric on the ankle and then you will be healed."  Okay...I may go with old remedies but in this economy I am not rubbing my broken ankle with egg yolks.  I am scrambling and eating them!

Next up: A mom who looks like a thermometer:  "Oh Sunda, you have got to be kidding!  You need THAT much attention, you had to bring your crutches to school?" sunda croonquist

I don't wish any of them bad luck but if they twisted their ankles in those 9 inch heels they wear to "drop off", they probably wouldn't' be so quick to judge me.

The drama doesn't stop there! Mom number "3" calls... offering to help with a playdate at her place... SWEET! Or so I think until she says "My daughter is going to be upset with me if she can't have a playdate with Tovah.  She will cry!  Go find another playdate for Aviva! My daughter is crying to play with Tovah!"

At this point I almost tell her where she and her spoiled, bored, crying daughter can go but.... can't do that!  I guess she forgot that when she had a baby, I took both her kids for hours to take them off her hands just to give her a break.

She has the "'hoodzpah!" to say: "They must have a playdate! My daughter is crying!" Politely I explained that perhaps it's time she spend quality time with her daughter as I hang out with mine as much as I can and we have FUN! You would think with all the money this family has, she could hire a clown to entertain her kid.

My home life has changed. My husband who used to be "partially Jewish-man deaf" is now completely deaf!  He never hears me call him when I drop my crutches and can't reach the wheelchair!

VJ readers you have no idea how life has changed!  But.... the show must go on and so now in our 2nd season, "James and Sunda" on Jewish Life Television airs on Thursday nights at 7 and 10 on Time Warner (LA 177/NY 120) and Direct TV channel 366.

Check your listings because I'm on meds!  I must go now as I prepare for the "Raging Jews of Comedy" tour in Boca.... I don't think I'll be the only one on crutches and it will be a great show.

Stay tuned to VJ where we tell it like it is...and like it was!  Thank you for all your get well wishes!
