It's the end of the school year! I'll be happy not to see some of the mothers from school - moms with so many ideas and no execution. When I say I'm going to do something, it's done. (Editor of VJ, no comment!) Case in point: "End of year party." Nobody steps up to donate his or her home, so I book the event at my country club.
Excellent idea! Three pools, a rec room, tennis courts, lifeguard, you name it. Moms can chill out too since it's just five minutes away from school. All the moms agree and we go ahead and book it.
Exactly one week before the party, "Know-It-All" mom steps in and via e-mail communicates with me, saying the following:
"Sunda, thank you but I speak on behalf of all the parents when I say that it's better to have the party at a private home rather than a country club. Just leave it alone!"
Who writes, "just leave it alone? I was stepping up to the plate!
it's "Mommy Madness" and in Jersey we call these mothers: "Punk Moms."
Punk Moms implore weaker moms to back them up. As they are cowards, they are afraid to call or speak with you directly and send guerrilla condescending e-mails instead.
Ironically, I'm happy that they found someone who will host the party! The host has a pool that accommodates 10 kids, so 30 kids is basically an accident waiting to happen... but the decision has been made by Punk Mom, so it's done.
Anyway, I'm not jumping in that pool... I plan on going to Disneyland!
A mitzvah in disguise, as they say! But will Sunda let Punk Mom off the hook? Not a chance! You will see her on "James and Sunda" on JLTV as a new character!
I have to pull my hair so tight into a bun that I look like I was bathing in botox, while pointing my finger in people's faces when I speak.
I love the new material and appreciate having more free time. Although this column may sound like a rant to men, there are moms out there in "VJ" land who know other Punk Moms, and I say they should be out'ed.
My husband once asked me: "Why do you go to those PTA meetings? What goes on in there?" New material!
Today, I'm going to chill out with James Leary's newest CD: "Together" which can be found on jameslearymusic.com. Being a huge fan of Sammy Davis, Jr. you can't imagine how happy I am that his phenomenal bass player is making a comeback after touring with the Count Basie Orchestra.
While watching Sammy Davis' old clips from various shows, I realize that synthesized sound, although great - took away "real music" which I miss, just as I miss "real people!"
I'm sure I'll run into some interesting characters in NYC where people are so real they scare you! So stay tuned to VJ where we tell it like it is and like it was... hurry summer!
