British singer Rod Stewart is set to perform for 24,000 people at Ramat Gan Stadium near Tel Aviv this Wednesday. He previously performed in Israel in 1983. In an interview broadcast on Channel 1 TV, Stewart said he remembers Israel being "very, very hot, and we painted the stage white. The paint wouldn't dry and everybody had white paint all over their shoes."
The journalist interviewing him informed Stewart that 6th grade students in Israel learn his song "Sailing" for English class.
According to Israel's E Online web site, Stewart will visit Masada, the Dead Sea and the Old City of Jerusalem prior to his concert.
