The sales strategy launched by new BMW and Mini importer, Delek Automotive Systems Ltd. bmw(TASE: DLEA), last week is paying off. On Friday alone, more than 900 peopled visited the BMW showroom in Tel Aviv, where the new BMW 1 Series was unveiled in Israel, placing scores of orders for BMWs and Minis.

Delek Auto cut the list prices of BMWs by up to NIS 235,000. On Friday, when business ends at 2:30 pm, orders were placed for all available BMW models, with an emphasis on the basic models.

Mercedes Benz importer has already responded to the price cuts for BMWs. It slashed the list price of the new Mercedes Benz ML 250 by NIS 43,000 to NIS 449,000. This model has a 204-horsepower turbo diesel engine. The price is cash only, with no trade-ins. The new price is well below the list price of the BMW X5.
