jta.org: Did Madonna take Tel Aviv by storm last Thursday or did she create a storm?
In her MDNA tour debut concert in the city featuring a dynamic stage, flying performers, gigantic video screens and countless costume changes, Madonna also offered this memorable moment: a scene of her in a video wearing a Hitler mustache and with a swastika on her forehead.
The Queen of Pop also took a moment during the concert to offer this pearl of wisdom: "If there is peace here in the Middle East, then there can be peace in the world."
EW.com reports that in fact, the swastika was on French political leader Marine Le Pen's forehead:
"During a tour stop in Tel Aviv last Thursday, a video montage projected during "Nobody Knows Me," an album track from 2003?s American Life, includes an image of French political leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika emblazoned on her forehead. Le Pen has not taken kindly to the association, and has threatened legal action against the Material Girl.
Le Pen is the figurehead of the National Front party, whose founder, her father Jean-Marie Le Pen, publicly condoned hate crimes and was fined for making racist remarks. "We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes," Le Pen told the paragon of journalistic integrity Daily Mail. When asked whether she would be seeking legal action, Le Pen cryptically stated, "If she does that in France, we'll be waiting."
Madonna hasn't commented yet on the montage or on Le Pen's statements."
