On Wednesday Coldplay posted an invitation on their official Facebook page, asking fans to check out a new song recorded by some of their friends called "Freedom for Palestine."
The music video features various members of British rock bands, including Maxi Jazz from Faithless who has frequently referred to Israel as an "apartheid state." As the song plays, the video cuts back and forth between images of Palestinian residents and the security fence.
According to the OneWorld website, some of the organizations involved in the project are the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Jews for Justice for Palestinians, A Just Peace for Palestine, Friends of Al Aqsa, Stop the War Coalition and War on Want.
Within minutes, hundreds of political comments came flying in, sparking political debate across the page. The post currently has close to 9,000 comments.
Proceeds from the single will go to the U.K. Charity War on Want to support Palestinian projects.
