Mordechai, the Jew
According to the Midrash, Mordechai was so weak from fasting that he could not bathe or shave himself, so Haman was forced to render him both services, since he could not robe him in the king's clothes unwashed. Haman said, "Woe to me that the king's chief minister has become a bathouse attendent and a barber."
Nor could Mordechai get onto his horse. Haman had to bend over to serve as a footstool for Mordechai to alight. After these humiliations increased Haman's rage, his daughter, waiting on a rooftop in the city, poured garbage upon his head. She had assumed that Haman was on the horse, and Mordechai leading the way. When she realized her mistake, she jumped from the roof, committing suicide.
