Kreplach

Thanks to Minette Greenman, who will always be loved as a beloved grandmother!

Filling

Ingredients:
4 or 5 onions (sliced)
Schmaltz or margarine
3 chicken livers
2 slices roast beef
1 egg
1 quarter chicken

Instructions:
Fry the onions in schmaltz or margarine. Grind the chicken, fried onions and meat together. Add pepper, salt and garlic powder to taste. When cooled, add the egg and mix well.

Dough

Ingredients:
2 eggs
½ cup water
Pinch of salt
Flour

Instructions:
Mix together all ingredients, using enough flour to make a stiff dough. Divide dough in half. Roll out each part to ¼ inch-thick. Cut into squares. Put the meat filling in the middle. Fold and paste the ends together. Be sure that each Kreplach is tightly closed. Cook in boiling salted water about 8 minutes. Remove and drain. This recipe makes approximately 50 pieces of kreplach.
